Shaun McDonald is a musician and educator living in Merced, California. A multi-instrumentalist, his musical stylings are incredibly diverse, performing in Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, Heavy Metal, Punk, Indie, Cumbia and Blues groups all over the west coast since the 1990s.
Raised in Merced, he began playing guitar at the age of 9. Studying from the best instructors the area had to offer, such as Gregory Spearance, Roddy Jackson and Joe Onzo, his passion for music and performance led to life entwined in Merced’s music scene.
Playing with groups and artists such as Mic Gillette (of Tower of Power), Hard of Heart, Seamus the Dogs, Cheryl Lockett, La Sonora Dinamita, Groupo Adiz, Two Snakes, The Joe Onzo Adam Trelatsky Shaun McDonald project, El Chongo, The Echoing and more, he has toured and performed all over the west coast as both a guitarist and bassist.
Shaun teaches full time in Merced, California. Offering lessons on the Guitar, Bass, Mandolin and Ukulele, he operates a successful music studio where he brings his passion for music to Merced and the surrounding areas. In addition to teaching and performing, he also does session work for nearby recording studios and artists.
